MONEY — 10 Financial New Year’s Resolutions
December 20, 2017CREDIT UNIONS — Credit Unions in 2018
January 10, 2018Better money management is in most New Year’s Resolutions, every year. If you are looking to plan and prepare better, read here to make plans for 2018.
Make Financial Goals
Figure out what you want, is it a house, a new degree, a car? Outline a plan and start saving!
Start Tracking your Budget
See if you can track all of your spending and know where your money is going. Look for leaks and fix those issues. (The average American spends nearly $1100 on coffee out, how much can you save?)
Check Your Credit Report
Check your credit report each year and see if you can get outstanding issues taken care if, and dispute any items that need to be argued.
Commit to No-Spend Days
Eat at home, skip shopping, and let no money leave your account on a few days a month and you’ll be shocked at how easy it is and how much you’ll save!
Get Outside & Quit the Gym
If you have weight loss as a goal for 2018, skip the pricey gym and go hiking, take the dog out for a walk or use free online videos. You’ll save a bundle.
Invest in Your Retirement
Commit to adding 3%-6% to your 401K in 2018. This will meet your employers match, if you have one; if not you will give yourself a great cushion for retirement.
Reach Those Debt Goals
Try to fast-track meeting your debt goals. Instead of trying to pay off all debts, which is maybe too lofty of a goal, try to put $50 more dollars into your payments. You can even automate this process, so you won’t have to think about it.
